This lesson was written by Jille on February 20th 2010 in the Dutch version of PSP 13. The lessons can be made in other versions as well

Filters
Eye Candy 5 - Impact
This application can easily be replaced with an Inner bevel

Preparation
Install the filter (or replace it in the lesson by an Inner Bevel (3D Effect))
Open PSP
Open tube, image and mask in the program and minimize
Material
Foreground = dark color( #910021 ) and Background( #facfc7 ) a lighter color


Change the foreground color into a Foreground-Background gradient with these settings

The lesson

  1. Open the imageWA04_027L
  2. Image - Rotate left
  3. Edit - Copy
  4. Close image without saving
  5. File - New - New Image (800/600) - transparant checked
  6. Selections - Select All
  7. Edit - Paste into Selection
  8. Selections - Deselect
  9. Layers - New Raster Layer
  10. Flood Fill Tool - Fill with the gradient
  11. Layer Palette - Blend Mode = Lighter
  12. Layers - New Raster Layer
  13. Flood Fill Tool - fill with the light background color
  14. Mask has to be present on the PSP workspace (minimised is OK)
  15. Your own working area is actif
    Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image

    and select the mask 1217491129_masques.jpg in the menu
  16. Close the mask and continue on your working area
  17. Layers - Delete - Reply Yes on the question that follows
  18. Layers - Merge - Merge Group
    Result
  19. Activate Raster 2
  20. Layers - New Raster Layer
  21. Selection Tool - Custom Selection (you find it here)

    with these settings
  22. Flood Fill Tool - fill selection with the gradient
  23. Effects - Texture Effects - Blinds with these settings (color = foreground color)
  24. Selections - Deselect
  25. Layers - Duplicate
  26. Image - Flip
  27. Layers - Merge - Merge Down
  28. Material palette : Change gradient into color
    (click on the icon)
  29. Pen Tool with these settings (width = 5)

  30. Draw a line while pressing the shift key on your keyboard

    To finish clik the Check mark in the top menu
  31. Layers - Convert to raster layer
  32. Layer Palette - Arrange - Bring to Top (translation: lijn = line)
  33. Magic Wand Tool - select this border (Mode Add)
  34. Effects - Plugins - Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact - Bevel

    You can replace this filter by a 3D Effect -Inner Bevel with these settings
    type 2 - width 5 - 40 - 2 - 42 - 52 corner 325 - 50 - 20)
  35. Selections - Deselect
  36. Preparation for text : Material Palette - switch colors
  37. Text Tool with these settings
  38. Write a text, mine is. SAKURA in capitals
  39. Layers - Convert to raster layer
  40. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow- with these settings
  41. Activate the tube: alies 182 - vrouwen-02012010
  42. Edit - Copy - Close the tube
  43. On your own image - Edit - Paste as new Layer
  44. Image - Resize 93 % - Smart Size- "Resize all layers" not checked
  45. Move tool - Move to the left corner
  46. Close the layer with the text
  47. Edit - Copy Special - Copy Merged
  48. Edit - Paste as New Image - we continue to work on this one
  49. Image - Add Borders - Symmetric checked - 5 pixels Foreground color
  50. With the Magic Wand Tool same settings as used before - Select this border
  51. Effects - Plugins - Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact - Bevel
  52. Selections - Deselect
  53. Edit - Copy - Close the image (no need to save)
  54. Back to your original work - Open Text layer again
  55. Activate Raster 3 and change Blend Mode into Multiply
  56. Layers - Merge - Merge all Layers (Flatten)
  57. Selections - Select all
  58. Layers - New Raster Layer
  59. Edit - Paste into Selection
    You have two layers now, one with and one without text.
  60. Selections - Deselect
  61. Effects - Image Effects- Seamless tiling with these settings
  62. Effects - Image Effects- Offset with these settings

    Result
  63. Material Palette- Switch colors again
  64. Pen Tool and draw a line(shift key pressed)
    click the check mark from Apply (top Menu) to end the operation
  65. Layers - Convert to raster layer
  66. Layers - Merge - Merge all Layers (Flatten)
  67. Image - Add Borders - Symmetric checked - 5 pixels Foreground color
  68. Magic Wand Tool - same settings - select the border and the line you just draw
