Mermaid Shelagh

This lesson was written by me, Jille, on May 14th, 2010 in the Dutch version of PSP X3. The lesson can be made in other versions as well.
I followed my own ideas, any ressemblance with an existing lesson is a coincidence.

Preparation
Extract selection to the map selections
Open PSP
Open the tube in the program
Material
Forefround color #c7c677 background color #37cae2

The lesson

1. Open the tube 1228507044_feerie.pspimage
   
2. Make bottom layer actif
   
3. Edit - Copy
4. Edit - Paste as New Image
5. Image - Rotate left
6. Image - Mirror
7. Selection tool: select the colored part
8. Image - Crop to selection
   Result
   
9. Edit - Copy and close
   
10. File - New - New image - transparent checked - 800/600 pixels
    
11. Selections - Select all
12. Edit - Paste into Selection
13. Selections - Deselect all
14. Layers - Duplicate
    
15. Make tube actif again
    
16. Make raster1 actif
    
17. Edit - Copy
18. Edit - Paste as New Image
19. Layer palette - rename Masker (Mask)
    we will use this image as a mask
    
20. On your working area
    Layers - New Mask layer - from image - choose masker (mask)
    
21. Layers - Merge - Merge group
22. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow
    
23. Effects - Distortion Effects - Wave
    
24. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow

    
25. Edit - Repeat Drop Shadow
    
    
26. Activate the tube again
    
    Make tube layer actif
    
27. Edit - Copy
    
    
28. On your working area -Edit - Paste as New Layer
29. Image - Mirror
30. Image - Resize - 90% - Smart Size - Resize all layers not checked
31. Effects - Image Effects- Offset
    
32. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow - same settings
    
    
33. Make the bottom layer actif
34. Selections - Load/Save selection- Load selection from disk - choose Mermaid_1
    
35. Selections - Promote selection to layer
36. Layer palette - arrange - bring to top
37. Layer palette - Blend Mode = Hard Light
    
38. Layers - New Raster layer
39. Flood fill the selection with the foreground color
40. Selections - Modify - Contract with 5
41. Push the delete key on your keyboard
42. Selections - Deselect all
    
    
43. Magic Wand Tool- select all yellow borders
44. Effects - 3D Effects - Outer bevel
    
    This is the result
    
45. Selections - Deselect all
    
    
46. Make tube and tube layer actif
    
47. Image - Resize - 316 pixels height- Smart Size - Resize all layers checked
48. Edit - Copy
49. Close the tube without saving
    
    
50. On your working area - Edit - Paste as new Layer
51. Move Tool - see example
    
    
52. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow - same settings
    
    
53. Material palettte : Switch the colors
    
    
54. With the text tool and these settings (sharp)
    
    

    write Mermaid
55. Place in the middle of the top rectangle at the right
    
56. Layer palette: Convert to raster layer
57. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow
    
58. Text tool again - same settings
    Write Shelagh
59. Place in the middle of the bottom rectangle at the right
60. Layer palette: Convert to raster layer

76. Image - Free Rotate - 5° left
    
77. Layers - Duplicate
78. Image - Free Rotate - 10° right
79. Layers - Merge - Merge all (flatten)
    
80. Add your watermark
81. File - Save As- Give_a_name.jpg
